The REES Theatre Inc is a 501(c)(3), non-profit organization founded in 2017. The REES Theatre was an iconic 600 seat downtown movie cinema that was established in 1940. It closed in 2009 and became a City of Plymouth revitalization project in December of 2016. Led by a group of passionate civic and business leaders, the four-phase restoration was completed, and a grand re-opening occurred on October 1, 2022, as a level tiered, 225 flexible seat civic center venue, featuring a full production stage with a full LED screen backdrop, orchestra pit, two green rooms, balcony seating with sound booth, 3-way alcohol permit, and catering kitchen. It operates with nearly 70% renewable energy from a rooftop solar array. A third floor is currently under construction that will provide for theater operations, a ‘club room’ lounge/meeting room with full bar and office/video livestream production area.
